1. Minutes
The minutes of the AGM held on 11 May 2024 were agreed as a correct record.
2. Matters Arising
None.
3. President’s report
The President referred to the following in her opening remarks,
- The Standing Committee’s commitment to improving communication within the movement and in particular knowledge about BACC Pages
- BACC Pages needed contributions involving anything of interest about Cursillo
- That the positions of Secretary, Treasurer and Publicity Officer were vacant plus some area representatives on the Standing Committee
- This was the President’s second year of office, but the National Spiritual Director was entering her final year and ideally needed someone to shadow her
- The hosts of GB Ultreya in 2026 had had to pull out so other dioceses were invited to consider the role and contact the President. Financial assistance and advice by BACC were available
- Thanks to Adrian Trotter and St Nicholas Church for acting as hosts
- A thank you to Paddy Gascoigne and Beth Gascoigne who were standing down as secretary and treasurer respectively.
In her written paper the President covered the following
- The recently published BACC Pages and that contributions were welcomed for the next edition.
- The national conference on 8th to 10th of May 2026 at Highgate House in Northampton
- GB Ultreya in Durham at the beginning of September
- A request for invitations from diocese but recognising that she had mobility issues.
- Engaging with clergy and especially bishops
4. Treasurer’s report
The treasurer presented the 2024 accounts and the auditor’s report for consideration by the meeting. The auditor had nothing to report and so it was
AGREED that the 2024 accounts be approved and adopted.
5. Webmaster report
Stephen’s report advised that not much had changed on the website. It greatly needed contributions including the ability of dioceses/areas to submit their own posts subject to moderation by the webmaster. He was currently revising the ‘resources’ section of the website including the manual which now took account of the shorter weekends. He was disappointed that use was not being made of the email distribution lists and the generic addresses. Private addresses were often being used which meant that the wrong individual could be contacted because of changes in postholders.
6. CLW report
Adrian advised that a successful weekend had be held at Wychcroft at the end of March. He summarised the benefits and disadvantages of it being used as a venue. His report set out the actions from the weekend and a question for BACC about the title of the event. The Standing Committee had agreed that it should be called the Cursillo Weekend in future. Adrian suggested possible changes to the timetable for weekends and listed the feedback received from the delegates at Wychcroft.
The role of administrator had been transferred to Judy Short who had acquired some access software. Adrian’s report contained a letter of thanks from Angela, the previous administrator, for the flowers given in recognition of her service.
The next weekend was at Wistaston at the end of October 2025. In his closing remarks, Adrian advised that members could attend the courses as a refresher if they so wished.
7. National Spiritual Director’s report
Sharon set out the various events she would be involved with for the remainder of the year. She referred to the fact that there continued to be good links between many dioceses with their neighbouring Cursillo community and she prayed that this continued.
The clergy directory was a work in progress and Sharon would welcome more names to include. On the other hand, if a priest was required, she might be able to call upon one of the members on the list. Sharon looked forward to the GB Ultreya in Durham later in the year.
8. Election of Officers
Nominations were called for the vacancies of secretary, treasurer and publicity officer. None were received. The treasurer advised that she was prepared to stay on until September 2025 but no longer.
The meeting closed at 12.45 pm.
