BACC_AGM 2026 President’s Report
I was one of hundreds who enjoyed last Septembers’ National in the beautiful city of National in Durham and looking ahead to a similarly enjoyable event in Chichester on 5th September. I am pleased to say that planning for this event is well under way and that you can now book via the BACC Website. I am also pleased that Eds and Ips, who will be hosting 2027’s National, are working alongside Chichester to enable a more seamless process where learning is not lost. Please consider whether your diocese would be able to ghost 2028 and let myself or your BACC representative know if this is the case.
I had a new knee early in 2025 and a second replacement in the later half of 2025 which resulted in my having a much more limited time of things. We were very pleased to welcome to BACC Standing committee, Duncan McClosh, from Scotland, who became our new secretary. I am also pleased that we have managed to fill the treasurer role, with Dian Harrison from Nottinghamshire being brought before the full council today, for ratification. I am pleased that, today, our incoming NSD Michael Bolley will be inaugurated. I had hoped to be able to report that an incoming President would be introduced. However, this is not the situation as yet. Please do get your application form in of you are called to this role.
We require a Publicity Officer still. We do still have vacancies of the standing committee; we have Rev David Grieve, who has come forward to fill the Area Rep vacancy for north East and Scotland. We are short of reps for Wales and Marches –which could be for St David’s with Brecon, St Asaph with Bangor, Chester, or Lichfield. We also still require a rep for Yorkshire, covering Leeds, Sheffield and York. Remember that these roles require your reporting involvement only 4 meetings per annum, one of which is via Zoom. The roles are crucial – but not necessarily onerous. For any of these roles please do let me know if you are able to assist. Many roles are now being doubled up with committee members taking dual roles. There is only so much of this that can happen without watering down the effectiveness of the Standing Committee.
BACC Pages had a lovely spurt in the latter half of 2025 and then stalled. I am not able to produce a magazine if I do not have items to put into it – it is as simple as that. It is your magazine. Please let me have any item which you feel would be worth sharing to encourage other Cursillistas on their individual pilgrimage. Is your diocese celebrating a special anniversary, or do you want to share something special about your journey with God? Do you have anything to share that fits under the headings ‘prayer’, ‘study’ or ‘action’ including photographs.
Lastly, I am still very happy to to be invited to visit you diocese to attend a special event, or an Ultreya.
