Part two: Study session – BACC Oversight of British Anglican Cursillo
Michael presented a paper which had been previously circulated giving an outline the purposes of BACC and the oversight it has of the Cursillo Method within the Anglican/Episcopal Churches and an understanding of the Licence Agreement with The Roman Catholic National Secretariat of the United States ursillo. The NSUSC is legal owner of various trademarks and copyrights regarding ‘Cursillo’ and our BACC Licence dates from 4 th April 1989. Appendix 2 of he Licence states that BACC is the licencing and co-ordinating body for Cursillo operating within the Church of England, The Church of Wales, The Church of Ireland and The Scottish Episcopal Church. Membership of BACC and an acceptance of its constitution and operates within a diocese under the authority of Diocesan Bishop. BACC supports diocesan Cursillo by providing Literature, workshops, and advice.
The Cursillo Movement Method is one of three stages: Pre Cursillo, Cursillo, Post Cursillo
(Fundamental Ideas doc)
Exercising Oversight: BACC has a duty of compliance regards the Licence and The Method.
Some questions were posed.
Should we be more specific in collecting information from dioceses as part of out oversight? Could information be collected directly from dioceses? Set time aside at Standing Committee for oversight role? Improving two way communication BACC/dioceses. 2026 Conference could give a platform for iscussion on this. Cursillo is there to support/inspire folks to live out their faith in daily life as part of a community of Christians.

Business meeting:
1-Apologies as listed above.
2-Minutes of the November meeting ’25 were approved with one amendment under
‘Functions of the BACC Standing Committee’ p2;

2

After discussion it was agreed to take this forward
“After discussion there was general agreement to revise the Area Rep Role Description along the lines proposed. Rev Michael Bolley was entrusted with the ask of adjusting the full version of the Role Description in line with the proposals in his paper, taking account of points made in the discussion. He agreed that he would do this and circulate the final version to Standing Committee members within the following two weeks.  It was considered unnecessary to bring this back to another meeting for further approval.”

3-No maters arising
4-Reports were previously circulated.
CLW: 14 delegates and 4 staff members with room for 6 more delegates. Webmaster/Registrar: Looking at online method of updating register. Generally speaking the website is serving its purpose. Once again an appeal for dioceses to pass on up to date information of their Secretariat.

The position of Treasurer is urgent as Beth has indicated she has stopped. Helen has passed on the Job description to someone.

There might be the possibility of exhibiting Cursillo at the Cedarwood Festival, North Yorkshire. Duncan to contact Yorkshire Cursillistas to see if this is something they might take on with BACC support.
